Budding Ballerina, Ages 2–3
 

The class for two-and-three year olds allows for basic movement, locomotion and dancing to nursery rhymes. It is the perfect complement to preschool. Children are given the freedom to create and be themselves, while they explore dancing, playing and working with others. Each week a different fairytale is read, then danced and reenacted with wonderful costumes, headpieces and props. Everyone gets to dress-up and pretend!

Fairies & Fantasy, Ages 3–6
 

In these classes for ages three to six, students receive age-appropriate dance training in preballet, creative movement and improvisation. They are given the freedom to express their creativity through dance and play, while gently taught ballet. Each week a favorite fairytale or classical ballet story is read, then danced and reenacted with wonderful costumes, headpieces and props. Everyone loves dress-up and make-believe!

The Young Dancer, Ages 5–7
 

A beginner level ballet class coupled with fantasy dance based on the great ballet classics and other fun stories presented in the grand tradition of ballet storytelling. We dress-up and dance the story using all our new ballet steps and training.

Odyssey of the Ballet Fairies, Ages 7–12
 

A beginner/elementary level ballet class which builds a foundation for strong technique and training. We practice at the barre and learn basic steps in the center while gaining an understanding behind correct technique. Students enjoy rehearsing creative ballet vignettes and original creative ballets which incorporate their ballet steps from class, along with mime and storytelling. They also are given ample improvisation opportunities to explore, discover and create their own movement.

Creative Dance, Ages 7–12
 

The Creative Dance class includes a basic modern warm up, improvisation and dance composition based on interesting themes drawn from a poem, story, or work of art and then made manifest into movement and physical ideas. This engaging class aims to provide a exciting creative experience where students can explore and discover while having a good time.

Children’s Jazz, Ages 7–13

Choreography Circle, Ages 7–13
 

Join Miss Bailay in a discovery of your own potential as we choose a theme for your very own Solo. In this exciting improvisation class, we study your own unique impulses for movement and then structure them into a movement collage. The creative process used is independent of music. The satisfying results reflect your individuality and we will give an informal showing at the end of the process. Offered to all levels for ages 7-13.

Dancing Goddesses of the Ballet, Ages 8–13
 

A very special creative ballet class with classroom technique combined with studies of goddesses from around the world. Students create a whirlwind movement collage using improvisation, creative costume design, beautiful fabric as props, and, most of all, the imagination as we explore the empowering characteristics of each goddess and their place in the world of mythology.

Dancer’s Bouquet, Ages 8–13
 

A beginning intermediate ballet class which builds on ballet vocabulary, ballet combinations, quality of movement and musicality. Progressive technical training is closely monitored while students are carefully groomed for proper qualities in their dancing steps. Students also participate in creative endeavors designed to spark their imagination and authentic impulses through movement improvisation and discovery, as well as in creative collaborations with their teacher, Miss Bailay. They also learn choreography and, for the fall session, will present a studio informal showing of
The Nutcracker Petite Suite.

Handmaidens of the Ballet, Ages 9–13
 

This intermediate/advanced ballet class will offer strength training, stamina building and dancing challenges which augment a continuation of careful technique and quality of movement under Miss Bailay’s watchful eye. Students will present dances and new ballet works in a variety of choreographic styles ranging from strongly classical, to modern ballet, to neoclassical ballet, drawing from repertoire and original works by Miss Bailay. This season will culminate with a presentation of the neoclasscial ballet, In a Rehearsal Room. Students may opt to take one or two classes a week.

Ballet Maidens, Ages 13–16
 

This intermediate/advanced ballet class will offer strength training, stamina building and dancing challenges which augment a continuation of proper alignment, careful technique, and quality of movement under Miss Bailay’s watchful eye. Exploring, preserving, and releasing one’s own “ballet originality” through improvisation and imagery is very important for students even at this higher level so that they stay connected to that which feeds their imaginations. Students will present dances and new ballet works in a variety of choreographic styles ranging from strongly classical, to modern ballet, to neoclassical ballet, drawing from repertoire and original works by Miss Bailay. They will also be given the opportunity to choreograph their own solo, as well as group dances for the class ensemble.

Whether for the enrichment of ongoing ballet students or for eager students looking to try something new, In Grandma’s Attic is available to setup and customize an exciting dance class designed to complement and roundout a young dancer’s dance education or for curiosity and enjoyment with friends! Please let us know if you are interested in any of the following classes and we will discuss setting up a new class for your age group with one of our dynamic teachers! Customized youth enrichment classes may be scheduled at a dance studio or other appropriate site for your convenience pending availability.
